Yellowknife Tennis Club Rules and Guidelines

The Yellowknife Tennis Club’s goal is to provide opportunities for recreational tennis to the residents of Yellowknife. In support of that goal, we organize and run tennis tournaments, promote youth and adult tennis within Yellowknife, provide tennis lessons, and represent Yellowknife tennis on local, regional, and territorial bodies.

The Yellowknife Tennis Club is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels to take part in tennis. If you are unsure of how to navigate the registration processes, how to get involved, or what clinics or leagues would be the best fit for you, coaches, Board members, and staff are always here to help.

Self-Play Rating

Tournaments and clinic registration is based on individual “Self-Play” ratings as outlined by Tennis Canada. Players may consult coaches or the Tennis Canada Self-Rating Guide for assistance. It is anticipated that your Self-Play rating may change overtime as your develop as a player.

Air Quality

Our summer season is short so clinics, tournaments, and social events will proceed wherever possible but may be modified if the air quality is poor. If the Air Quality Health Index rating is at a 7 or higher, clinics may be cancelled at the discretion of coaches. Tournament play may also be deferred or rescheduled to a mutually agreed upon time as approved by tournament scheduler.

Players are encouraged to take frequent breaks, limit the intensity of play, and stay hydrated when the Air Quality Health Index rating is at a moderate level. Listen to your body and take breaks or stop playing if you are feeling at all unwell.
